Charles “The Natural” Murray, 35 years old, from Rochester, NY is
Rochester’s only true champion. He started boxing in 1984 at the age of
16 and one year later he won the silver metal at the 1985 Empire State
Games and in 1986 he won the gold metal. In 1986 Murray also took the
gold metal in the National Golden Gloves and the National P.A.L.
Championship. In 1987 he won the silver metal in the Pan Am Trials and
then in 1988 he was the Eastern Olympic Trials Champion and awarded
outstanding boxer of the tournament. Murray then went on to be the
Olympic Team Alternate for the 1988 Olympics.
Murray made his pro debut in 1989 and went on to win the USBA
Championship in 1990 and the IBF World Championship in 1993. He also won
the N.A.B.F. title in 1986.
Charles enjoys supporting the youth in Rochester, NY and is currently
training Rochester’s newest young prospect Jonathan Tubbs.
